Patty Cooper is an artist several times over: a painter in both oils and pastels, a singer and songwriter and musician, graphic designer and web developer. Patty is inspired by the process of creation whether it's a painting, a song, collaborating on building a Web application or a more conscious relationship to the world around her.
Opening a typesetting and graphic arts shop in her early 20's was the beginning of a lifetime of creating art. One year she spent a summer watching many pastel portrait painters work in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Seeing their various approaches and styles helped her realize she had a strong desire to discover her own approach and style. Within months of beginning to paint in pastel she was accepting commission portraits.
Now Patty works mostly in oil, painting whatever she finds most inspiring -a striking face, a Texas landscape or an intimate look at a flower. Her work is set apart by her unapologetic use of color and her confidence in line.
After raising and launching three talented happy children, she has begun once again to play piano, sing, write songs and perform. Recently she wrote a song to accompany a commissioned painting. This is the future of Patty's work-art and music created to complement each other.
